School Resources

This website will be dedicated to the research and publication of learning resources for schools, colleges, universities and all other learning facilities. At the moment it is a "work-in-progress" project, but will be expanded over the coming months to feature lots of new articles and resources.

Information will include news and information about teachers, teaching classrooms the way in which school buildings are constructed and designed, as well as lots of other interesting school and learning-related topics. Passvirginia.org will become one of the leading teaching resources on the web.

Paying Attention to Student Loan Consolidation

Unless you were lucky enought to have been born into a wealthy family, chances are that you are very familiar with student loans. College is very expensive and can eat into savings at a phenomenal speed. Paying varying interest rates and monthly sums to different lenders can drain your finances. This is where a student loan consolidation comes into play. You can combine all of your loans into one manageable monthly payment, with one interest rate.

When you took out your student loans, it was a lengthy process filled with paperwork. At the time you probably paid little attention to the details of the agreements, such as how long you had as a grace period before repayment was to begin, what type of interest rate you would be charged and even how much the total amount of loans would be as you continued through school. Many students do not pay attention to how much money they are taking out each semester, only to be shell shocked when the first notification for payment arrives after graduation.

Just as with college student credit card debt, the student loan you took out has to be repaid. But the total payment can often be too high for recent college graduates who have just entered the workforce. A loan consolidation is the best option for having a lender combine each loan with a common interest rate. Then, you pay that fee which is usually lower than the combined payments from before. There are some pitfalls though and you must be aware of them before signing your name.

Before you go through the process of applying for student loan consolidation, you need to know all of the facts. You cannot use consolidation to pay off your MasterCard or Visa student credit card debts and many bank loans do not qualify for the consolidation process either. You can always take your debts and go with a bank loan, but often you will face higher fees, monthly payments and interest rates.

If you decide to go with a well known loan consolidator such as Sallie Mae, always make sure and ask as many or all of the questions you have. Make sure you get any information they are giving you about student loan consolidation in writing and review the paperwork thoroughly. Many lenders will not allow you to defer payments if you find yourself in financial trouble, so take a long look at the fine print before signing your name.
